A retired magistrate in the Lagos State Judiciary, Alhaji Shafihi Ogunleye, has advised the government at all levels, particularly the Lagos State Government, to ensure that real estate agents across the country register with relevant agencies to safeguard the interests of all stakeholders.
He gave the advice yesterday while he led a courtesy visit to Muyuth Prime Properties Ltd. in Epe Local Government Area of the State.
The retired magistrate, who served under Alhaji Jakande’s administration, further stated that the activities of the agents should be monitored so that “whoever flouts the law amongst them is sanctioned accordingly.”
“Finally, my advice goes to the public, especially those interested in buying properties for whatever reasons. Do your due diligence regarding the agent you want to engage and the documents presented to you. You shouldn’t fall into the wrong hands just because you want to avoid the necessary legal fees,” he stated.
A deputy director in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Nosirudeen Otuniyi stated that the Lagos State Government is committed to creating the necessary environment to promote the state as a real estate investment destination in the world.
In his remarks, the immediate past secretary to Epe Local Government, Mr. Babatunde Subair advised the management of Muyuth Prime Properties to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of relevant regulatory agencies and the codes of the Estate, Rent and Commission Agents Association of Nigeria (ERCAAN) and shun activities that could tarnish their good name.
Representing the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Muyideen Uthman, the company’s administrative consultant, Mr. AbdulAzeez Jimoh, stated, “Our agency represents our dedication to providing exceptional services and accessibility to our valued clients worldwide. Having just been issued a provisional practising license (permit) by the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), we will go the extra mile to do things according to the rules of the game and provide quality services to our clients, as well as shun activities that could discredit our good name.”
At the event were staff members of the company and other guests.
